A thrilling cable car ride shuttles visitors from the heat of the desert floor to the cooling heights of Mt. San Jacinto, providing up to a 40-degree temperature drop in just a few short minutes. Once at the top of the mountain,, there are several hiking trails, and for a unique taste of mountain living, mule rides. Relax with a glass of wine at the cocktail bar or enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant. While many visitors just hop up for the spectacular view, it can also be a great starting point for many fun outdoor activities.
The tram is probably Palm Springs' most popular sight and certainly deserves the title of most breathtaking. It has evolved over the years from the typical gondola in the 1980’s to a huge glass sided structure that rotates as you ascend the 2.5 mile trip up the mountain.
Cars depart at least every half hour with the first car up Monday-Friday at 10am; first car up weekends and holiday periods at 8am. Last car up is 9 p.m. with the last car down at 10:30 p.m.
